The Virtual Team Kick-Off Meeting: Building Relationships at a Distance [Online]

You are here

The kick-off meeting is often the first time project team members are introduced to one another. It provides an important opportunity for project team members to bond, and — for better or worse — may set the tone among team members for the entire project.

The truth is, it’s often hard for virtual teams to bond on a personal level with other team members…partly (well, mostly) because we may not even know what our team members look like! Without bonding of the project team, the team will likely experience at least some of the following very predictable problems:

  • Decreased productivity
  • Conflicts or hostility among team members
  • Decisions misunderstood or not carried through properly
  • Apathy and lack of involvement
  • Lack of imagination and innovation
  • Ineffective staff meetings, low participation and minimally effective decisions
  • Negative reactions to the project leader

In this 2-hour, live, instructor-led virtual session you will not only explore, but will experience innovative team activities specifically designed for virtual project teams that will build engagement and increased productivity.

TheVirtual Team Kick-off Meeting workshop is appropriate for individuals who are:
