Sola Oduko is the Chief Executive Officer/MD and Engagement Director for Procept Associates Professional Services Limited, a franchisee of Procept Associates Ltd, Canada, a consulting and training firm specialising in project management, business analysis, IT service management, business continuity management, IT governance, enterprise architecture and ISO standards.
As a leading Service Management Practitioner, Sola has over 15 years’ comprehensive experience managing the design and implementation of IT service management processes and ISO 20000-1, based on 2011 ITIL Service Lifecycle Publications and Control Objectives for Information and Related Technologies (COBIT). Sola was also responsible for the assessment, design and implementation of service management processes, as well as, software selection and implementation of service management software including Remedy, Footprints, Peregrine, GoTo Assist, ServiceNow, and Open Ticketing and Reporting System (OTRS) in government, financial institutions, post-secondary institutions, oil and gas, audit and advisory, food and beverage, and management consulting sectors.
Sola is currently leading the development of project management methodologies and the formulation of an information systems strategy for a leading bank in Africa.
The first to introduce the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) into West Africa when he was the head of information systems for Guinness Nigeria Plc (a subsidiary of Diageo UK), Sola has been a program manager and subject matter expert in the design and implementation of service management processes including incident, request, problem, change, configuration, release and deployment, service level, service catalogue, business relationship, supplier, information security, service continuity, availability, capacity, etc., and the establishment of several call center/service desk functions. These initiatives assisted IT in fostering better relationship with their internal and external customers, established a framework for the consistent delivery of IT services, and more clearly defined of roles and responsibilities.
As the Director of IT PMO for University of Alberta, Sola transformed the IT PMO (project managers and business analysts) from a team of 8 to over 25 people. He provided project and program oversight; assessed project management practices, identified gaps, and justified recommendations for improvements to the Executive team; established project governance and ensured adoption by the project management team; championed the preparation of project management processes and templates; designed a new organization structure for the PMO, obtained executive approvals and worked with HR to get the jobs evaluated and appropriately graded, before hiring into the roles.
Procept's IT Service Management Practice Lead and lead instructor for Procept's service management programs worldwide, Sola has designed a full range of ITIL courses (v2, v3 and v2011). He has taught ITIL courses from the Foundation through to ITIL Expert, with impressive results, globally. May of his students have passed the former ITIL Manager exams with distinction.
Holder of many important qualifications, Sola has both bachelor and master's degrees in computer sciences, and a second master’s degree in business administration. He is currently a doctoral student with the University of Alberta. In addition to his academic qualifications, Sola has the following professional designations: ITIL Expert, ISO 20000 Practitioner and Auditor, ISO 27001 Lead Implementer, Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP), COBIT5 Foundation, Business Continuity Management Practitioner, and PRINCE2 Practitioner. He is a member of various professional associations including the Project Management Institute and Information Systems Audit and Control Association.
