The Job of the Front Line Supervisor

This 1 day seminar is based on actual experience - not "theory." All concepts will be documented through case examples and by analysis of participant’s experiences. Participants will learn firm, tested, proven, practical approaches to getting results.

You will develop a basic understanding of how to produce high "payoff from your efforts and learn your unique functions in relation to "today's work" and work group performance.

Supervisors who have a clear definition of what supervisors should b e in an organization and the unique role a supervisor plays will be able to identify the real payoff in having supervisors as a part of the management team. Work group performance will improve as a result of more clear-cut accountabilities of supervisor.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Participants will gain the ability to be able to:

  • Distinguish the distinct differences between supervising and managing
  • Define their job in terms of their three specific functions, i.e., getting today's work out - today, multiplying the output of the work group and reducing the manager's span of technology
  • Identify the four reasons why managers often will not let supervisors reduce their "span of technology" and assume more ' responsibility
  • Take specific, positive steps when obstacles to supervision are Present

 

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

This seminar is designed for first level supervisors and managers and the course is also suitable for candidates for supervision.

This course has no prerequisite.
