The Practitioner Certificate in Business Continuity Management is intended for (but not limited to) those who are involved in the Business Continuity planning, implementation, day to day maintenance, and who will act in the event of a disaster. It contains a number of practical sessions, designed to build on the ‘taught’ components of the module, and to encourage debate and the sharing of knowledge and experience between students.
Students will leave the class with the information they need to participate in Business Continuity Management Projects, exercise and review plans, and participate in Recovery operations. In addition, students are prepared for the practitioner examination in ISO 22301 standard.

The qualification promotes a hands-on approach to Business Continuity Management, making use of current international standards, enabling candidates to make immediate use of the module on their return to their organizations.

There is no prerequisite for this course. It functions as a stand-alone course.
The ISO 22301 Practitioner Exam is run on the last day of the course and consists of three parts: (A) 50 minutes to complete 20 multiple-choice questions, (B) 50 minutes to complete 10 scenario-choice questions, and (C) 50 minutes to complete 10 true/false questions. An overall mark of 60% is required to pass and receive the ISO 22301 Practitioner Certificate.

Day 1: Introduction, Initiation, Planning and Requirements Gathering Where do we start, who should be involved, what’s included, and what do we need to protect against?
Day 2: Requirements Gathering, Continuity Strategy, Creating Continuity Plans How much will we lose, what MUST be protected? What should we do if the worst happens and how should we do it?
| Day 3: Preparing to Execute; Training and Awareness; Exercise, Review and Maintain; and Invocation How do we confirm that the plan would work; How do we keep everyone engaged throughout the BCP program; How do we make sure that we can act when the time comes? What do we do when the worst happens?
Day 4: ISO 22301 What are the requirements for business continuity from ISO 22301? What is the organization’s context for business continuity? What about leadership, planning, support, operations, performance evaluation and improving?
