Making The Shift Toward Performance Enhancement

Making The Shift Toward Performance Enhancement

It is apparent that despite effective up-front needs assessments, well delivered training and extensive follow up many corporate training initiatives fall short of organizational expectations. This session will focus on the evolving role of the training department as they begin to embrace the broader perspective of performance consulting. Who is accountable for what, predictable traps and determining when training is truly the solution will be addressed in an upbeat, learner-centered approach.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

Participants will gain the ability to be able to:

  • Understand the differences between a training and an education model
  • Determine the differences between a traditional training function and a performance consulting function
  • Know how to place accountability where it should be - with Line Management
  • Determine when training is the solution and when it is not
  • Understand the realities when trying to determine training ROI
  • Identify common consulting errors that trainers make
  • Determine other factors that influence the use of trained "skills" back on the job
  • Identify the role of the Line Manager before, during and after training initiatives
