Indigenous Rights Policy

Indigenous Rights Policy

We believe strongly in respecting the fundamental rights of all, including indigenous peoples. As historically disadvantaged groups, indigenous people deserve special attention to rectify past wrongs and to ensure a brighter future. Procept recognizes, respects, and values the importance of indigenous peoples’ culture, heritage and traditional rights and we support initiatives to protect their heritage and rights wherever they reside around the world.

Procept was an early supporter of the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) and supported the Canadian government's endorsement of this document in 2016, especially as it pertains to Canada's First Nations, Inuit, and Metis peoples. Through our direct work with many indigenous groups, we have come to appreciate the diversity of cultures, experiences, and world views represented within these peoples. We aim to support them through:

  • Creating case studies that reflect the realities faced by indigenous groups
  • Providing training to relevant staff on the history of how Canada has treated its indigenous peoples, their rights, and rich cultural tapestry
  • Delivering training to indigenous groups using a trauma-informed approach
  • Providing special discounts when providing training to indigenous groups
  • Providing training scholarships to indigenous youth
  • Sponsoring the Canadian Indigenous Project Excellence Awards (CIPEA)
  • Promoting acknowledgement of indigenous rights in our management training to non-indigenous people

By working together with our indigenous peoples, we can all learn from each other and create a more harmonious, supportive and culturally-rich society.
